Robinson's Street Racers played a huge role in preventing a repeat of the Watts rioting in 1968, as the decorated Green Beret devoted his energies to a 'peace plan' that covertly was backed by the Los Angeles area police departments to overcome racial tensions with organized street racing . He and his late wife Tomiko had matching 'real' 1969 Hemi Dodge Daytonas given to them by SoCal dealership with Keith Black engines, and were popularized by the auto enthusiast press; they toured nationally in the early 1970s. His grandest achievement was the development of the racetrack on Terminal Island (now closed) for the racers, and Robinson also did work for Homeland Security during the past decade.

"When I Wake Up Worried"

I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word.
Psalm 119:147

I stir in bed and blink my eyes a couple of times. It's dark so I know it's still night time. I lean over and look at the clock. 3:30 am. Phew... 3 hours until I have to get up. I look again and it's 4:05 am... Then 4:41 am. Come on, I think. I can still get some sleep...

But the sleep doesn't come and soon the alarm clock goes off.

This is the dance many people do each night. They want to sleep, but the worries of every day life start dancing in their minds. Lists of things that need to be taken care of. Groceries need bought, kids need help with school, the car needs work, get to the doctor, write a devotion, the list bombards my mind over and over.If you’ve ever been overwhelmed and worried, you know how it feels to stare at the ceiling when you should be sleeping.

I understand the psalmist with this verse. I end up thinking about verses in the Bible that comfort me. I go over and over "Come to me you who are heavy laden." "Lo I am with you even to the end of the age", and our verse here, "I hope in Your word." God’s Word delivered special comfort during the psalmist’s sleepless nights. Although he couldn’t make his problems disappear, he said, “My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your Word”.

When worry wakes you up, remember, “The Word of God is living and powerful”. Select a passage and mull it over. Our cares cannot compete with God’s Word!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, when the everyday worries of life in this world get to us; remind us of Your word. It will be a source of peace, comfort and help us get through. AMEN.

I just got home from my last final of the series. 4 Classes. 5 physical final exams (History/Poli-Sci had 2 in one sitting) and my final grades for each class? Well, here is a summary:

Graphic Design I: -A-
Typography: -A-
Am-Hist/Poli-Sci: -A-
Digital Photography: -A-

:D Yup! That's right folks! For my 4 classes and through the ups, downs and doubts of the semester, I ended the term on 4/4 A's to bring a perfect transcript. The percentages aren't 99.9%, but who cares...the Letters are all A's and 3 of the 4 classes made me earn every point of it. lol.....

Anyway.. I just had to share.
