To find her, family and friends had searched the desert on foot, horseback, and while riding all-terrain machinery.

The concerned family created a Facebook page; they used helicopters, offered a $10,000 reward, and bought space on a number of roadside billboards.

Billie Jean has been found. Amazingly, her husband found his wife's corpse at her own home. He spotted her when he saw her feet sticking out from a massive pile of hoarded things. You see, Billie Jean was the kind of individual who had a consuming desire to buy and keep stuff -- all kinds of stuff, an overwhelming amount of stuff. There was so much stuff even the search dogs couldn't locate her. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Now here's the wonderful part. Even though Bill James didn't know where his wife was, even though the sensitive noses of the dogs came up blank, and even though door-to-door searches turned up nothing, Somebody knew where Billie Jean was.

Read the passage above. It clearly says there is nowhere a sinner can go to escape God. He who created the universe is able to keep track of all of us all the time.

For the unforgiven sinner the news that God can see their wrongdoing is frightening.

For the sinner who has been washed of his transgressions by the Savior's blood, the knowledge that God is with Him provides tremendous comfort.
It truly is my hope and prayer that you are part of that second group. I pray the Lord knows you as one of His forgiven and saved children. I pray you have Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

An Old Airplane Story with a Moral about Our U. S. A.

This is a good little story about a vivid memory of a P-51 and its pilot, as told by a fellow who was 12 years old in Canada in 1967. You may know a few others who could and would appreciate it as well. It was noon on a Sunday, as I recall, the day a Mustang P-51 was to take to the air. They said it had flown in during the night from some U.S. airport; the pilot had been tired and wanted to lay-over for the night. I marveled at the size of the plane, now dwarfing the Pipers and Canucks tied down by her.

It was much larger than in the movies, and she glistened in the sun like a bulwark of security from days gone by. The pilot arrived by cab, paid the driver, and then stepped into the flight lounge. He was an older man; his wavy hair was gray and tossed. Looked like it might have been combed, say around the turn of the century.

His flight jacket was checked, creased and worn. It smelled old and genuine. Old Glory was prominently sewn to its shoulders. He projected a quiet air of calm proficiency and pride devoid of arrogance. He filed a quick flight plan to Montreal (Expo-67, Air Show) then walked across the tarmac to the waiting old war bird.

After taking several minutes to perform his walk-around check, the pilot returned to the flight lounge to ask if anyone would be available to stand by with fire extinguishers while he 'flashed the old bird up'. Just to be safe. Though only 12 at the time, I was allowed to stand by with an extinguisher after brief instruction on its use. 'If you see a fire, point, then pull this lever!' (I later became a firefighter, but that's another story). The air around the 12 exhaust manifolds shimmered like a mirror from the fuel fumes as the huge propeller started to rotate. One manifold, then another, and yet another, coughed, then barked in their wakenings.

I stepped back with the others, and in moments the huge V-12 Packard-built Merlin 14-hundred horsepower engine came to life with a thunderous roar, blue flames knifed from her exhaust manifolds, the concussion of the exhausts shaking the air. Myself stunned, I looked at the others' faces, but there was seemingly no concern, so I lowered the bell of my extinguisher. One of the other guys signaled us to walk back to the lounge. We did.

Several minutes later, we could hear the pilot doing his pre-flight run-up. He had taxied down to the end of runway 19, out of our sight. All went quiet for several seconds; we raced from the lounge to the second story deck to see if we could catch a glimpse of the P-51 as she started down the runway. We could not. But there we stood, eyes fixed to a spot half way down 19, waiting to catch that final glimpse of a veteran of the skies. Then a roar ripped across the field, much louder than before, like a furious hell-spawn set loose! Something mighty this way was coming! "My Gosh! Listen to that thing," said the controller. And in seconds, the Mustang burst into our line of sight. Its tail was already off, and it was moving faster than anything I'd ever seen by that point on Runway 19. Two-thirds the way down 19, the Mustang was airborne with her gear going up. The prop tips were now supersonic and we clasped our ears as the Mustang climbed hellishly fast into the circuit - - only to be eaten up by the dog-day haze. We stood for a few moments in stunned silence, still trying to digest what we'd just seen.

Then the radio controller rushed by me to the radio. " Kingston tower calling Mustang," He looked back to us as he waited for an acknowledgment. The radio crackled, "Go ahead Kingston ." "Roger, Mustang. Kingston tower would like to advise the circuit is clear for a low level pass." I stood in shock because the controller had, more or less, just asked the pilot to return for an impromptu 'air show' ! The controller looked at us. "What?,' he asked. "I can't let that guy go without at least asking!
I could never forgive myself." The radio crackled once again, " Kingston , do I have permission for a low level pass, east to west, across the field ?" "Roger, Mustang, the circuit is clear for an east to west pass." "Roger, Kingston , I'm coming out of 3000 feet. Stand by."

We rushed back onto the second-story deck again, our eyes fixed toward the eastern haze. The sound was subtle at first, a high-pitched whine, a muffled screech, a distant scream in the morning air Moments later the P-51 burst through the haze. Her airframe straining against positive G's and gravity, wing tips spilling contrails of condensed air, prop-tips again supersonic as the burnished bird blasted across the eastern margin of the field, shredding and tearing the still air with a banshee scream of her twelve cylinders. At about 400+ mph and 150 yards from where we stood, she passed with the old American pilot saluting us!

Imagine - - a salute! I felt like laughing, I felt like crying, she glistened, she screamed, the building shook, my heart pounded. Then the old pilot pulled her up - - and rolled, and rolled - - and rolled out of sight into the broken clouds and indelibly into my memory. I've never wanted to be an American more than on that day.

It was a time when many nations in the world looked to America as their 'big brother', a steady and even-handed beacon of security who navigated difficult political waters with grace and style, not unlike the pilot who'd just flown forever into my memory.

He was proud , not arrogant - - humble , not a braggart , old and honest , projecting an aura of America at its very best . That America WILL return one day. I know it will. Until that time, I'll just send off this story, calling it a reciprocal salute to the old American pilot who wove a memory for a young Canadian that has lasted a lifetime.

City Council May Pull Plug on Muslim Prayer Idea

. The Hartford City Council is reconsidering its proposal to have local imams perform Islamic invocations at the beginning of council meetings in September.

Council President rJo Winch called a news conference Wednesday to address the uproar over the proposal she supported Tuesday.
In an email sent out by the City Council on Tuesday called the plan "an act of solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters."

But since a story was posted on NBCConnecticut.com, Winch and other council members said they have received numerous complaints and even some hate emails over the decision to begin the meetings with Muslim prayers.

"Where is the separation between church and state?," wrote one anonymous reader. "Why not an act of solidarity with your New York City American brothers and sisters who were attacked on 9/11?," wrote another.

The email from the City Council referenced the ongoing battle over a proposed mosque in New York. "One of the goals of the Council is to give a voice to the many diverse peoples of the City, which is especially important given the recent anti-Islam events throughout the country," the email read.

Although the council does say a prayer before every meeting, Winch says she's reconsidering the idea of the Muslim prayers so close to the anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
snip

"There might be 20 different faiths there on that day because, I understand his position, we have to understand we live in a multicultural city and there are 125,000 residents here so we don't want to have anyone be offended," Winch said.

That idea, however didn't sit well with Council Minority Leader Luis Cotto, the council member who originally made the proposal to ask the imams to perform the invocations. Cotto said he had no problem with the timing of the proposal.

"I thought that doing this in September or at the next meeting, which happens to be September, makes sense, and I still do," Cotto said.

Local Islamic leaders were also not happy about Winch's apparent backtracking. "We feel as though it would be a step backwards because it would be labeling me as part of the problem that took place on 9/11 and we had nothing to do with that," Imam Kashif Abdul-Karim said. Abdul-Karim was scheduled to perform the invocation at the Sept. 13 City Council meeting.

He said he plans to be at City Hall Monday to say the prayer

"Whats that old Arabic saying about letting the camel get his nose under the tent flap ?"
Everyone of voting age should read these two books. Don't buy them, get them from the library before they are removed from the shelves.

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

It's a vital article -- a brave one -- that interviews "dozens of interviews with his closest allies and friends in Washington".
Most are unnamed because the consequences of retribution from this powerful foursome can be severe in an access-dependent town. John Podesta, President of the powerful, adminstration-tilting Center for American Progress, had the temerity and self-confidence to put his thoughts publicly on the record. But most others could not.
Mark Schmitt, executive editor of the liberal magazine American Prospect, wrote that "Luce has written what seems to me the best and most succinct rundown of what's gone wrong in the White House, with particular attention to the role of Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel." But some of the big aggregators out there -- Mike Allen at Politico and ABC's The Note among others -- didn't give Luce's juicy and lengthy essay any love.

Why not? Allen is a good friend of mine and tries to keep a good balance between tough-hitting political stuff but also goes out of his way to give strokes to those in the White House he can -- particularly "Axe" -- who is a regular in Mike's daily Playbook.

I try to do the same to be honest and have a particular thing for Bill Burton's wit and was pleased to see Rahm Emanuel giving David Geffen rather than Rick Warren lots of hugs during the Inauguration eve fests.

But this Luce piece is unavoidably, accurately hard-hitting, and while many of the nation's top news anchors and editors are sending emails back and forth (I have been sent three such emails in confidence) on what a spot-on piece Luce wrought on the administration, they fear that the "four horsepersons of the Obama White House" will shut down and cut off access to those who give the essay 'legs.'

But in the too regularly vapid chatter about DC's political scene, serious critiques of the internal game around Obama not only deserve review on their own merits but have to be read -- because Obama is not winning. He is failing and people need to consider "why".

Any serious survey of the Obama administration's accomplishments and setbacks over the last year has to conclude that the administration is deeply in the red.

If current trends continue, this once mesmerizing Camelot-ish operation will be be seen in the history books as the presidential administration that -- to distort slightly and inversely paraphrase Churchill -- never have so many talented people managed to achieve so little with so much.

snip

One wonders why Valerie Jarrett was on the trip in any case. As head of public engagement for the White House, it would seem she should have a rather full plate meeting the demand of the many groups around the United States that want to feel like they are connecting with and being heard by the Obama White House.

Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran to American parents James E. Bowman and Barbara Taylor Bowman. Her father, a pathologist and geneticist, ran a hospital for children in Shiraz, as part of a program where American doctors and agricultural experts sought to help jump-start developing countries' health and farming efforts. When she was five, the family moved to London for one year, returning to Chicago in 1963.

I see Valerie Jarrett a lot -- often at Georgetown's power crowd restaurant, Cafe Milano. One In fact, one night when I was at the annual gala dinner of Jim Zogby's Arab American Institute -- an important evening for leading figures from the Arab-American community to connect with the Washington political establishment -- Jarrett was on the docket to be the major keynote speaker of the entire night.

The entire article needs to be read, but to set the stage here is the beginning of Ed Luce's portal into the heart of today's Obama machine:

At a crucial stage in the Democratic primaries in late 2007, Barack Obama rejuvenated his campaign with a barnstorming speech, in which he ended on a promise of what his victory would produce:

"A nation healed. A world repaired. An America that believes again."

"Yeh right:And the Lame Will Walk And The Blind See !"

Just over a year into his tenure, America's 44th president governs a bitterly divided nation, a world increasingly hard to manage and an America that seems more disillusioned than ever with Washington's ways. What went wrong?

Pundits, Democratic lawmakers and opinion pollsters offer a smorgasbord of reasons - from Mr Obama's decision to devote his first year in office to healthcare reform, to the president's inability to convince voters he can "feel their [economic] pain", to the apparent ungovernability of today's Washington. All may indeed have contributed to the quandary in which Mr Obama finds himself. But those around him have a more specific diagnosis - and one that is striking in its uniformity. The Obama White House is geared for campaigning rather than governing, they say.

In dozens of interviews with his closest allies and friends in Washington - most of them given unattributably in order to protect their access to the Oval Office - each observes that the president draws on the advice of a very tight circle. The inner core consists of just four people - Rahm Emanuel, the pugnacious chief of staff; David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett, his senior advisers; and Robert Gibbs, his communications chief.

Two, Mr Emanuel and Mr Axelrod, have box-like offices within spitting distance of the Oval Office. The president, who is the first to keep a BlackBerry, rarely holds a meeting, including on national security, without some or all of them present.

With the exception of Mr Emanuel, who was a senior Democrat in the House of Representatives, all were an integral part of Mr Obama's brilliantly managed campaign. Apart from Mr Gibbs, who is from Alabama, all are Chicagoans - like the president. And barring Richard Nixon's White House, few can think of an administration that has been so dominated by such a small inner circle.

"It is a very tightly knit group," says a prominent Obama backer who has visited the White House more than 40 times in the past year. "This is a kind of 'we few' group ... that achieved the improbable in the most unlikely election victory anyone can remember and, unsurprisingly, their bond is very deep."

John Podesta, a former chief of staff to Bill Clinton and founder of the Center for American Progress, the most influential think-tank in Mr Obama's Washington, says that while he believes Mr Obama does hear a range of views, including dissenting advice, problems can arise from the narrow composition of the group itself.

"The Czar Rats are about to bail out of the White House .He'll keep his Chicago Core people.Axelrod,Gibbs and Jarret but Emanuel is gone "

Democrats in Congress are no longer asking themselves whether this is going to be a bad election year for them and their party. They are asking whether it is going to be a disaster.

The GOP pushed deep into Democratic-held territory over the summer, to the point where the party is well within range of picking up the 39 seats it would need to take control of the House.

Overall, as many as 80 House seats could be at risk, and fewer than a dozen of these are held by Republicans.

Political handicappers now say it is conceivable that the Republicans could also win the 10 seats they need to take back the Senate. Not since 1930 has the House changed hands without the Senate following suit.

Is this a piece from National Review, The Weekly Standard, The Wall Street Journal or Fox News.com, all major conservative news outlets in the United States? No. It’s a direct quote from yesterday’s Washington Post, usually viewed by conservatives as a flagship of the liberal establishment inside the Beltway.

The fact The Post is reporting that not only could Republicans sweep the House of Representatives this November, but may even take the Senate as well, is a reflection of just how far the mainstream, overwhelmingly left-of-centre US media has moved in the last month towards acknowledging the scale of the crisis facing the White House.

To its credit, The Washington Post has generally been ahead of the curve compared to its main competitors such as The New York Times in reporting President Obama’s travails, but its striking front page coverage of the “Democrats’ plight” and talk of a possible GOP Senate win (regarded as fantasy just a fortnight ago) was a bold step for a publication that is probably read in every office of the Obama administration.

The Post also ran another headline yesterday on its front page – “Republicans making gains ahead of midterm elections” – which would undoubtedly have sent a shudder through the White House. It carried a new poll commissioned jointly with ABC News, which showed public faith in Barack Obama’s leadership has fallen to an all-time low, with just 46 percent approval. The Washington Post-ABC News survey revealed high levels of public unease with President Obama’s handling of the economy, with 57 percent of Americans disapproving, and 58 percent critical of his handling of the deficit.

For most of the year, America’s political and media elites, including the Obama team itself, have touted the notion of an economic recovery (which never materialised), significantly underestimated the rise of the Tea Party movement, and questioned the notion that conservatism was sweeping America. It is only now hitting home just how close Washington is to experiencing a political revolution in November that will fundamentally change the political landscape on Capitol Hill, with huge implications for the Obama presidency.

What was once a perspective confined largely to Fox News, online conservative news sites, or talk radio is now gaining ground in the liberal US print media as well –

historic change is coming to America, though not quite the version promised by Barack Obama.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's surprise announcement today that he would not seek a seventh term in 2011 immediately set off speculation that White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel would enter the race.
"In the end, this was a personal decision, no more, no less," Daley said in Chicago Tuesday. "I've been thinking about this for the last several months...It just feels right."

Emanuel, in a statement released this afternoon, made no mention of his interest (or lack thereof) in the job.

"While Mayor Daley surprised me today with his decision to not run for reelection, I have never been surprised by his leadership, dedication and tireless work on behalf of the city and the people of Chicago," said Emanuel
snip
President Barack Obama said that Daley "helped build Chicago's image as a world class city" in a statement on the mayor's retirement released this afternoon.

Those strong ties to Daley -- and his political machine -- coupled with the former Congressman's demonstrated fundraising prowess and the behind-the-scenes role that President Obama could play in his home state make Emanuel a strong potential candidate.

That said, there are untold numbers of politicians who believe they have what it takes to be the city's next mayor and at least a few of them aren't likely to bow out even if Emanuel gets in.

Among the serious names mentioned: Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, state Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Cook County Commissioner Forrest Claypool, Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan, 2004 Senate candidate Gery Chico and Reps. Mike Quigley, Luis Gutierrez and Jesse Jackson Jr.

Selective Enforcement at Obama's Justice Department

In Washington, there are probably 10 or 20 faux "scandals" for every real scandal. One of the real scandals these days is the way in which Barack Obama and Eric Holder have politicized the Department of Justice.

The Democrats criticized the Bush administration for politicizing DOJ, but that was sheer fabrication. It didn't happen.

Immediately upon taking office, however, Obama and Holder embarked on a program of partisan law enforcement the likes of which this country may never have seen before.

The latest manifestation of the Obama administration's perversion of justice is noted by former DOJ lawyer Chris Adams--a deliberate decision, for political reasons, not to enforce Section 8 of the "Motor Voter" law:

If Americans don't want dead and ineligible felons participating in elections, they will have to clean up the mess themselves, as Attorney General Eric Holder won't do his job by enforcing the integrity protections in the "Motor Voter" law passed in 1993.

Motor Voter struck an important balance -- it sought to increase voter registration, as well as ensure voter integrity. Welfare offices and motor vehicle offices became voter registration centers. But the law also required states to conduct list maintenance to ensure ineligible names don't pollute the voting rolls. Dead people, ineligible felons, and people who moved away must be removed from the rolls by state election officials.

The attorney general was given the power to enforce both provisions of Motor Voter, yet Eric Holder is only interested in enforcing one. This attorney general simply won't do his job and enforce the list integrity requirements.

During the Bush administration, the Justice Department enforced both Section 7 (the welfare office registration provisions) as well as Section 8 (the list integrity provisions). Section 7 cases were investigated and brought against multiple states, including Illinois and Arizona. Section 8 cases were investigated and brought against multiple states, like Missouri and Maine.

The decision of the Holder DOJ to ignore the integrity provisions of Section 8 is deliberate and corrupt. In November 2009, political appointee Julie Fernandes told the entire assembled DOJ Voting Section that the Obama administration would not enforce the list maintenance provisions of Section 8. Section 8 "doesn't have anything to do with increasing minority turnout," Fernandes said. "We don't have any interest in enforcing that part of the law." End of story.

At the same time, Fernandes stressed that the DOJ would vigorously enforce the welfare agency registration provisions of Section 7.

She made these lawless instructions in front of me and dozens of other shocked Voting Section lawyers. The DOJ has never once denied that Fernandes gave these instructions, nor has the DOJ countermanded them.
————————————————————————————————-
It’s not just the New Black Panther case: in November 2009, political appointee Julie Fernandes told a packed room of Voting Section employees to simply ignore this provision of the “Motor Voter” law.

I was at the Voting Section of the Justice Department for over five years. This office is responsible for enforcing most federal election laws which do not involve criminal matters. My previous articles at Pajamas Media have spoken of the DOJ’s lawless abandonment of race-neutral enforcement of voting laws, and other outrageous conduct. I will continue to publish here at Pajamas Media more instances of failure to enforce the law equally by the Department.

One such instance relates to the Motor Voter law, and will shock Americans who care about integrity in the electoral process.
The “Motor Voter” law was passed in 1993 to promote greater voter registration in the United States. It did this — most Americans now know from visits to the DMV — by requiring states to offer voter registration materials whenever someone had contact with a variety of state offices. These included welfare offices, social service agencies, and motor vehicle departments.

A lesser-known provision also obliged the states to ensure that no ineligible voters were on the rolls — including dead people, felons, and people who had moved. Our current Department of Justice is anxious to encourage the obligations to get everyone registered, but explicitly unwilling to enforce federal law requiring states to remove the dead or ineligible from the rolls.
In November 2009, the entire Voting Section was invited to a meeting with Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes, a political employee serving at the pleasure of the attorney general. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Motor Voter enforcement decisions.
The room was packed with dozens of Voting Section employees when she made her announcement regarding the provisions related to voter list integrity:
